First day of summer vacation in which we discuss the polarity of ionic bonds.

Two things:
A) my grasp of science seems tenuous when challenged by the questions of a 9 year old.
B) kids should have to teach what they learn because half this stuff I don’t understand until I have to come up with an answer for the kids.

“Why does it bubble up over the lid of the glass?”
“Well, that’s um, the surface tension. The water molecules like to stick together a bit. Because of um… it’s like magnetism… the molecules have um a polarity. “
