Month: April 2015

I’ve tried to limit my interactions on the Facebook… because even at it’s best, it encourages some of my worst character traits. Like craving constant, instant, empty feedback.

So I’m basically out; excepting that I’ve left my account alive and I confirm stuff that people tag me with. Some times old friends use only that messaging service and I can’t cut that cord yet. But Facebook is trying to make me hate it more.

I get notifications by email when stuff is going on, and it’s usually great because it means (meant) that I didn’t have to /log in/ to see comments. Mariel would tag me and I could just read the “Aw, that’s so cute” comment from someone’s aunt’s best friend’s dog account.

Lately though, when I go to view the email with the comments there’s nothing there but a big button that takes me to Facebook. I don’t want that trash. My browser, and my phone app, would show me the first few words of the comments though… so they must be in there. What’s going on?

It turns out that Facebook puts the new (and ever changing) content into the email message (most likely to make it seem less SPAM like) but it takes the extra effort to format the text that it doesn’t show up! This means I have to click and go to the website and see whatever horrible ads they have or maybe even get sad because of the content they are showing me.

“It’s the most famous holiday celebrating people coming back from the dead… so we should do a zombie song”

“Is that true dad?”

Happy Easter!

(There was video to go along with it too, but it was such crap I couldn’t even include without seriously degrading the already dodgy product)
